BMW Motorrad UK has teamed-up with Off Road Skills Chief Instructor Simon Pavey to give GS fans an experience they won't forget. Simon and his team will be running a special GS challenge-style of event, to give riders the chance of testing their skills on a specially designed circuit in south Wales on 5-6 June 2010.

The event is open to any GS owner and to ensure that as many as possible have the chance to enter, BMW is making its off road motorcycle fleet available to ride in the event. To enter, pay just £50 and any GS owner will be able to enter and hire a BMW motorcycle for the challenge.

The format of this event will see all entrants divided into four groups, with each group riding in separate heats taking place on Saturday 5 June at Walters Arena - the home of BMW Off Road Skills courses. Riders will start with a briefing from instructors, who will offer riding tips. Then entrants will negotiate a specially designed off road course, under the watchful eye of Simon Pavey and a team of judges.

The top five riders in each heat will qualify for the Final – a tougher test riding F 800 GS's on Sunday 6 June. This is where the competition heats up, as the ultimate prize is a fantastic trip to South Africa, where, courtesy of BMW Motorrad UK, the top three riders will be sent to take part in the BMW GS Trophy from 13-21 November 2010.

“By supplying a fleet of BMW motorcycles for participants, we have been able to make the UK GS Trophy Qualifying Event more accessible to a wider range of GS owners, while also delivering better value to the competitors,” explained BMW Motorrad UK's Marketing Manager, Tony Jakeman.

“The GS Qualifier will also now coincide with Touratech's Travel Event, which is taking place nearby – therefore offering participants a full weekend of adventure motorcycling entertainment.”
