The land of ancient ruins, Mayan civilisations, coffee, outstanding natural beauty and volcanoes, focused my mind, for I was set to leave these fine shores for a whirlwind tour of Central America.
Central America Itinerary
Panama >
My first stop was Panama and I intended to explore the length and breadth of its famous canal - by any means necessary. I hired myself a boat and we quickly sped our way along the canal dodging giant container ships as we went.
Costa Rica is a beautiful country, pristine beaches, deadly jungle and world-renowned conservation projects. We made our way from the hustle and bustle of the capital, San Jose, to Tortuguero National Park, a rainforest reserve located on the country’s east coast.
El Salvador >
For a country so blighted by civil war and criminal gangs, the welcome we received was truly humbling. El Salvador is a country of volcanoes and my aim, in my short time in the country, was to climb the volcano which dominates the skyline of the capital, San Salvador.
Guatemala >
From one volcano-centric country to another, Guatemala, and here the volcanoes were erupting.
Belize >
The relaxed Caribbean vibes of Belize were a welcome change from Guatemala, but if I thought I would have time to recharge my batteries I was wrong.
We want to see if we can get some geocaches set up in Central America while we're away, . More Videos >
