Brits start to show their cool
After a faltering start, Britain’s Winter Olympians are beginning to excel…

For a country that has been paralysed by a few dramatic inches of snow in recent months, we haven’t really excelled at the Winter Olympics. Despite millions poured into the development of Team GB, some experts have pointed to our schizophrenic weather as the reason we cannot compete with alpine powerhouses like Korea and the Netherlands.
But after a sluggish start, the Brits have started to come into their own. Shelley Rudman and Kristan Bromley picked up gold and silver yesterday in the woman’s and men’s bobskeleton, successfully making their tea trays go faster than any other people’s tea trays.
Big Earth is also really pleased for AJ Rosen, the Luge racer who managed to bag 16th place despite dislocating his hip not long ago. The danger of the event was highlighted when Georgian Nadar Kumaritashvili was tragically killed in a practice run.
Rosen modestly played down his magnificent performance, instead choosing to draw attention to the real cost of the sport. “Everyone is really upset,” he said, “which is why we are dedicating this race to him (Kumaritashvili).”
Big Earth founder, Russ Malkin, who sponsored Rosen said, “We’re all incredibly proud of AJ and his great result under difficult conditions.”
