Ice Cool

Commonwealth Expedition Team

While a little snow has thrown Britain into a white mess over the past few weeks, 8 women from all over the Commonwealth have braved temperatures of -30°C and skied over 900km across Antarctica to the South Pole.

Led by British explorer Felicity Aston, the all-female team were from all over the world including countries such as Cyprus, Brunei, India and Singapore. Marking the 60th anniversary of the Commonwealth, the expedition aimed to demonstrate the potential of different cultures working together, while also highlighting the achievements of women across the world.

After 38 days traveling through the brutal conditions, the team arrived at the South Pole on December 29th last year but only just returned home – Big Earth would like to say congratulations on an amazing achievement.
